In Germany the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG; German research
council) currently funds 260 PhD programmes, of which four are in Gender Studies
(HU Berlin, Frankfurt/Main, Trier, Würzburg) and a few have gender aspects.
In these programmes 10-25 PhD students have either two or three years time
to finish their PhD thesis in a coordinated research programme supervised
by several professors). PhD programmes with gender priorities/aspects are
also funded by other foundations such as institutes of the churches and political
foundations.
