  • In the German as well as in the Austrian and Swiss system the longterm existence of teaching and research foci can only be guaranteed by chairs. Hence, it is necessary to establish professorships with a gender denomination (alongside with their disciplinary denomination). Additionally, a chair is a valid indicator fort the acceptance of gender research within the scientific community. In 1985 at the Freie Universität Berlin, the first professorship with a gender denomination was established in Germany. Currently, 106 of such chairs exist in Germany. A list of the disciplinary allocations of these chairs can be found here (german).
