The first workshop “Gender Studies in German-speaking Areas – Experiences and Challenges” was organised in 2003 by the Centre for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies at Humboldt University. Since then, annual meetings have taken place, each with a different thematic focus. Theses conferences offer networking opportunities among members as well as opportunities to exchange experiences and problems within Women’s and Gender Studies. Furthermore, higher education policies are regularly discussed.
In 2006, the 4th workshop “Gender Studies in Reform Process – Positioning within Higher Education Policy” was organised in Frankfurt/Main. The Committee of Women’s and Gender Studies Institutions in German-speaking Areas was then founded. It was decided to develop a website called „www.genderkonferenz.eu“.
The 5th workshop took place from 25. -27. october in 2007 at Humboldt- University in Berlin. [see more]
The 6th workshop in November 2008 will take place in Freiburg.
